My neighbor's daughter hung herself
by frozen one inwhen i got home from work tonight i was told my neighbor's daughter had commited suicide.
the daughter lived several hours from here and i had only met her a couple of times over the years, so i didn't know her at all really.
from what i understand the daughter had struggled with substance abuse problems for a long time.

I knew a young brother who was known in the congregation for his laughing very loudly for very small things,we would wonder if he was quite all right but when asked how he was doing he would reply that everything was OK. Was talking about pioneering, etc. In fact he was living in an unfathomable solitude, had few, if any, friends, as he was a bit limited. One day we heard that he had jumped under the wheels of the subway, he was in his early 30s. He was buried very discreetly, almost on the sly, JWs don't like it to be made public that some of them didn't believe they were the happiest people in the world. So sad, makes one ask oneself, after, if we could have done more for that person.

I really feel for those who remain and probably can't help but feel guilty, somehow.
Not to trivialize the subject in the least but hanging seems to be more man's way to commit suicide than woman's.

Accents and Dialects
by snowbird inso as not to further the "head cheese thread," i'm starting this one because of something narkissos mentioned about a fricative consonant.. it's like an f or s, produced by forcing air through our teeth.. that got me to thinking about the test the gileadites gave to the ephraimites in judges 12.. judges12: 5 -6 gilead captured the fords of the jordan at the crossing to ephraim.
if an ephraimite fugitive said, "let me cross," the men of gilead would ask, "are you an ephraimite?
'" but he would always say, "sibboleth"he couldn't say it right.

I'm not familiar with the way immigrant populations have impressed the English language but in the suburbs (banlieues) of the large french cities, the arabic North African population has incredibly imposed its twang to the popular working (or unemployed...) class language. One has to view a film made as late as in the early sixties to realise how popular language has evolved over a few decades.

Not having a paradise earth in the future makes me sad - What about you?
by BonaFide inyes, i am enjoying realizing the truth about the truth.. but there is another side to it.
the world as we know it didn't seem to me to be the way that god intended it to be.
i know i was brainwashed, but it felt good believing that all the bad things would be changed.

fromage derives (through metathesis, form -> from) from (!) late Latin formaticum
Funny, same phenomenon in french caribbean Creole language, where they tend to say froumi for fourmi (ant). Which shows that languages are like water, they are lazy and follow in their course the path of lesser resistance and effort.
Lazy ? wait, not all of them. In a remote french province, Auvergne as they call it, an industrious tribe has resisted fromage for centuries and keeps, somewhat stubbornly, on making FOURME, like fourme d'Ambert, a cylinder shaped blue cheese.

CoCo,
by any chance, do you live in California ? I read lately that your cerebral governor wants to replace text books in schools with e-books, to reduce state expenses. IMO, that tells a lot about the emphasis Terminator puts on culture and education.
